A Guide for Intended Parents
Becoming a parent through surrogacy is one of the most meaningful journeys you'll undertake. This guide walks you through what to expect at every stage.
Step 1: Initial Consultation & Application
Your journey begins with a free consultation where we'll discuss your goals, answer questions, and determine fit. Once you're ready, you'll complete an application with basic information about your family, medical history, and any specific preferences. Our team reviews your application within 5-7 days.
Step 2: Matching
We carefully match you with a surrogate based on values, preferences, and practical considerations (location, schedule, IVF clinic). You'll review surrogate profiles, attend match meetings (Zoom/WeChat or in-person in Southern California), and select someone you feel a genuine connection with. Matching can be as fast as 24 hours.
Step 3: Medical & Legal Clearance
Once matched, the surrogate completes medical screening at the IVF clinic (blood tests, urine, ultrasound, physical), psychological screening, and legal contract negotiation. Both parties have separate attorneys. This phase typically takes 4-8 weeks. Pre-birth orders are filed in California Family Court.
Step 4: Embryo Transfer & Pregnancy
After medical/legal clearance, the surrogate begins medications and embryo transfer takes place at your IVF clinic (a 3-day trip). Pregnancy is monitored at 10 weeks, then transitions to local OB care. CBS coordinates appointments, communications, and 24/7 support throughout. We're at the delivery — in person or via video.
Step 5: Birth & Post-Birth
When your baby is born, you're the legal parents from the moment of birth — thanks to your pre-birth order. CBS coordinates hospital paperwork, baby passport/documents (for international IPs), and post-birth care. International parents receive babysitter support during the post-birth weeks.
Financial Planning
Total program investment: $170,000-$230,000. We'll provide a detailed breakdown including surrogate compensation ($65k-$145k), agency fees, legal, medical, insurance, and escrow. Funds are managed through an independent escrow account, released as journey milestones are verified.
